Tired of Babying Your Lawn Every Weekend?
You water it. You mow it. You fertilize it. And somehow it still looks patchy by August.
There’s a better way — and it starts with smarter seed.
Eco-Lawn is a certified blend of six fine fescue grasses developed by Wildflower Farm, a family-owned company dedicated to sustainable lawn solutions. It’s not just “low maintenance” in name — this grass is built differently. Its roots grow 9 to 14 inches deep, allowing it to pull moisture from the soil long after conventional grass has given up and gone brown.
🌱 What Makes Eco-Lawn Different
Deep roots = drought survival While traditional Kentucky bluegrass guzzles over 100,000 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. per year, Eco-Lawn can thrive on a fraction of that — as little as 12,400 gallons annually in warm, dry climates. Once established, rainfall alone is often enough.
Slow growth = fewer mow sessions Eco-Lawn grows slowly by design. Most customers mow once a month or less — some let it grow freely for a soft, flowing, natural look. Either way, you win back your weekends.
Allelopathic = natural weed suppression Here’s the cool part: Eco-Lawn actually exudes a natural compound that discourages weeds from taking hold. Combined with its dense, deep-rooting growth habit, it crowds out competition without any chemical help.
Self-fertilizing = skip the bag The deep fescue root system naturally enriches surrounding soil. Mulching fallen leaves over the lawn in autumn provides all the nutrients it needs — no fertilizer bag required.
Sun or shade? Yes. From open, sunny front yards to tricky deep-shade spots under large trees, Eco-Lawn adapts and establishes where other grasses simply won’t survive.

🛠️ How to Get Started
- Clear the area — remove weeds, debris, and dead grass
- Prep the soil — light rototill or hard rake to create a seedbed
- Add compost — a ¼-inch layer jumpstarts germination and keeps weeds at bay for a full year
- Spread the seed — use a fertilizer spreader at ⅓ open, making two passes in a crisscross pattern
- Rake lightly — seed should be just barely covered, with a little visible on the surface
- Roll it in — use a ¼-full lawn roller for good soil contact
- Water — keep moist until established, then let nature do the rest
For large areas, Eco-Lawn can also be installed via mechanical seeders or hydro-seeding.
💬 What Customers Are Saying
“I have been using Eco-Lawn grass seeds for a long time and it is one of the best products I have ever bought.”
“Even in my mossy spots under my big trees, I have some great new emerging lawn — and I’m naughty and don’t water daily as suggested!”
“It germinated quickly and is a nice thick, finely textured grass. Perfect solution for our hard-to-mow hill.”
❓ FAQ
Will it work under trees? Yes! Water deeply under the tree’s drip line during the first growing season to help roots establish. By year two, you typically won’t need to water there at all.
Can I mow it like a regular lawn? Absolutely. Eco-Lawn can be kept neatly trimmed or left uncut for a soft, meadow-like look — your call.
What about pet urine damage? Eco-Lawn won’t solve issues caused by highly acidic pet urine, which tends to damage any grass variety. This is more of a pet health issue than a lawn issue — worth a chat with your vet.
🌎 A sustainable lawn isn’t just easier to maintain — it’s better for your local watershed, your water bill, and the planet. Eco-Lawn is a small change with a surprisingly big impact.
