The HOT FROG Living Composter (Vermicomposter) is the 2nd generation of worm composters created by FCMP Outdoor. We’ve incorporated some terrific design updates in our latest version.

1) A moisture control water retention channel runs around the outside of each tray. Instead of allowing the liquids to fall directly through the tray this channel gathers moisture to prevent the bedding from drying out along the edges.

2) When it’s time to expand your living composter a collection of 40 angled tunnels extend down from the base of each tray directly into the bedding of the tray below. This provides ample opportunity for worms to migrate between trays.

3) Aeration is important for happy worms and good compost. A series of support points are molded into the lower edge of the trays. This raises the trays slightly allowing 360 degrees of airflow across the bedding.

4) The double walled lid and base provide excellent insulation against temperature swings helping to maintain an ideal environment. Happy worms are productive worms.

5) The spigot on the bottom allows you to collect the worm tea easily with no mess!

In addition to our updated features the HOT FROG Living Composter also has all the features traditionally found in worm composters. 1) The liquid collected in the reservoir base is known as worm tea. Mix 1 part tea with 1 part water to create an excellent fertilizer for plants. 2) The speed and efficiency of the vermicomposting process keeps typical composing odor to a minimum and allows the unit to be kept inside and used year-round. 3) Constructed from BPA free UV inhibited recycled polyethylene the plastic is contact safe and will not degrade if outside under direct sunlight. The maple hardwood legs are stained and urethane sealed for years of good looks

Compact and Colorful

I ordered this and will begin my farm in the fall as, due to hot summer weather, my worms didn't survive the trip. The composter is cute and looks like it has a nice design. It's a bit smaller than I expected it to be but I look forward to using it.

It fun but what do I do about flies

It's fun to watch the worms, but what do I do about the flies.

Good product

Great product! Sturdy and well designed. Looks good for squeamish girlfriends. I keep indoors, no odor problems. Plan and get the right worm count to start with, or start small and grow the population. One downside is the instruction booklet is small. Just fed them the box they can in (except tape). They like non-glossy junk mail too. No receipt paper or onions.

Love My Hot Frog!

I was doing my worm farms in Tupperware bins and was happy with them. I decided to purchase the Hot Frog Living Composter and love it! It's simple, well-designed and a lot less messy than the Tupperware bins. I'm definitely buying another -- maybe two more!

So far so good for a composting newbie

This is my first foray into indoor vermicomposting, and my boyfriend was skeptical at best. He was convinced it would smell, so I promised to keep it in my work studio room if needed. He now has conceded that it doesn’t smell in the least, and even looks nice tucked in the corner of our apartment’s living room. I had a bit of trouble getting all the legs in at the same angles, but other than that set up was easy and clear. I started with just 100 worms since I had no idea what to expect, and as far as I could tell all arrived alive and well even in blazing summer temps. I have been feeding them just a few handfuls of veggie scraps per week, but they seem to be moving through it and I can’t wait for their numbers to expand so I can stop throwing away food waste! So far no moisture is collecting in the bottom and the compost is moist but not wet. Some water has collected in the edges of my not used top tray, which I imagine is condensation from the humidity inside. Very happy with this purchase so far!
